Happy Anniversary

I started my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt a year ago and today (Feb 24), I finished it.  I've wanted one since I started quilting years ago but at the time I thought it would be bed size.  As I've worked along, I decided it'd be more useful to me if it were lap size.  It's ended up at 49 inches by 62 inches.  Perfect to drape over the back of the couch to pull down as needed.

I had a hard time deciding whether to quilt it by hand or machine.  As I was sewing on the border, the machine had difficulty stitching through the layers of the top so I figured I'd have to hand quilt it.  But I just didn't want to hand quilt it.  So I put in a new needle and quilted a nice large meander for the quilt and heart shaped leaves for the border.  It quilted as smooth as butter.  What a joy to quilt!  Who knew?!

Hope you had a good day.

Oh Pat - it's absolutely beautiful! I love all the bright cheerful colors, just as a garden should be. Congratulations on completing it. My Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt is still just an image in my mind! :)

It's beautiful, Pat! Congrats on the finish. I probably have most of my flowers finished, but still have to sew most of them together.

Color me incredibly impressed! It is beautiful and more people will get to see it than if it were a bed quilt.
