It's Finished

I was visiting with my daughter yesterday and she was telling me that recently she bid on an apron in a fundraising  auction.  A pretty, frilly thing but she was outbid and couldn't justify the expense.  But she does a lot of cooking for her big family and was tired of the ratty old apron she has.  When she was shopping, she came across an apron panel and bought it.  And......being the great mother that I am, I sewed it up for her.  Here you go Corey!

Hope you have a good day.

It was rainy all day today so it was perfect for sewing and watching re-runs of 'Lost'.  Here are the blocks I managed to finish.

Five Crosses

Five Spot

Flying Shutters

Four Squares

Hope you had a good day.

Before I forget

Last year, Mareenz sent me an email asking if she could use a photo that I submitted to Cat Patches Foto Finish in a class she'd be taking sometime this year.  Of course I was thrilled at the idea.  Recently I received a followup email showing the finished quilt.  The class Maree took was with Gloria Loughman.  Check out her website.  Beautiful.

Here's my original photo:

Here's Maree's quilt:

Isn't it amazing?  I absolutely love it.  Be sure to check out the websites above for more details.  Thanks Maree.  You did a great job!

Hope you have a good day.

Down to 100

This makes 401 blocks completed!!   Only 100 more to go.  At one point I figured I'd complete the project some time in 2014 but it looks more like early 2013 or sooner if I put in a little extra effort.  We'll see.  I don't think I'll be sewing as much once Bailey comes home.

Darien's Dilemma

Domino and Square

Eagle's Nest

Eva's Delight

Hope you had a good day.

Enjoyable Day

I have new photos of Bailey (3 weeks) with some of his litter mates.  He's the white and brown spotted one.  It was their first time outside.

I went to my first AKC Dog Agility meet today.  I've seen dog agility on TV and You-Tube but there's nothing like being there in person.  It was a real treat.  It looks like something fun to do with Bailey when he's old enough.  I took a little video footage but I don't know how to edit it and I don't really want to show peoples faces or my feet.  I need more filming practice.  I'm not exactly sure when my camera stops filming so some videos stop in the middle and all of them have my feet at the end.

Yesterday I spent some time sewing.  Here are four more blocks:

Courthouse Square

Cross and Chains

Cross Roads to Jericho

Hope you had a good day.

Not so bad

I spent a good portion of time last night listing the last 114 block names and required templates.  Then this morning I measured each of the templates and noted the sizes in the book next to the blocks. That enabled me to use my rotary cutter to cut the pieces.  Thanks Impera_Magna.  It was easier that I expected.  Here are five blocks I completed today.

Cock's Comb

Combination Star

Courthouse Lawn

Hope you had a good day.

That's It

These are the last of the blocks in 501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks by Judy Hopkins book that don't require templates.  It's funny, years ago I made all my quilts using templates but now I'm totally spoiled by rotary cutting.  I'll have to devise a strategy for the next batch of blocks but for now, here are 7 more blocks.

Windmill III

Unnamed Star

Vines at the Window

Wampam Block

Wandering Lover

Winged 9 Patch

Winged Square

Hope you had a good day.

The Waiting Game

I may have mentioned in an earlier post that I've had some waiting time on my hands and have tried to keep busy by sewing.  It seems rocking in my chair doesn't make time pass any more quickly.  Anyway, my new addition will be coming home in about 7 weeks.  I've waited 4 weeks already.  Here are the most recent photos of Bailey, my Havanese puppy.

Bailey 2 weeks old

Bailey 2 weeks old

Bailey and brother 2 weeks old

He's so cute.  His eyes just opened the other day and his nose is beginning to turn black.  He's mostly white with some brown patches on his back and tail and some patches around his eyes.  I'm curious to see what his true colors will be.  He has two black and white brothers and a cream sister.  This is a photo of his mom.

Honey Bee

And this is his dad.

Pistol Petey

Stay tuned for further photos and updates on Bailey.

Until then, here are a couple more blocks for the 501 Project.

Twelve Crowns

Twinkling Star

Hope you had a good day.

Dots on Dots Blog Hop

Today's my day for the blog hop.  A special Thank You to Corrie of Quilt Taffy and Madame Samm of Sew WE Quilt! for hosting it.  To see the full blog hop schedule, click on the dots on dots logo on Corrie's blog, here or on my sidebar.

I Love Dots!

I made a quilt a few years ago using some black with white dots fabric I'd been given and was really happy with the results.  So for the Hop I purchased more black dots fabric as well as green dots and orange dots fabric.  I thought they'd go good with some 'Fall' embroidery.  Here are the individual blocks:

This is the wall hanging I made with the blocks.  It's 41 x 17 inches.  I had to rearrange some furniture to find wall space long enough to hang it.

Here's another block:

It was originally going to be a table runner.

Boring!  And my table always has my sewing machine and stuff on it so I made it into a pillow instead.

So that's it for me.  Be sure to visit the others listed below to see more 'Dots on Dots'!

Hope you have a great day.
