Spinning

Do you remember this post when I was looking for a long term project and thought I'd spin all the fibers in The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook?  At the time I purchased a sampler pack of wool from Woolgatherings.   Back then I spun and knit a few samples then pretty much set it aside for about a year and a half.  In the meantime, there's been all this fiber taking up space in my dresser.  So...I decided to start to attack the collection.  I'm taking apart the swatches I knit previously and I'm going to knit all the yarns together into one wool afghan.  Here are couple skeins.

The brown is from the Brown Manx Loaghtan native to the Isle of Man.  If you're interested in knowing more, visit Manx Loaghtan Sheep Breeder's Group.  Here's a photo of the breed.

Here's the start of the afghan.  I'm using the Garter Stitch Check pattern.  Because the yarns are of different weight, plies etc., the panel won't be even.  I think I can block it into shape later.

I love quilting

I finished the wall hanging yesterday.  The quilting really makes a difference.

Since it was a small piece, I used Taylor Quilt Basting Spray to baste the layers.  I bought it a few years ago at JoAnn's when I couldn't find 505 Temporary Adhesive Spray.  I've heard the 505 is the best and doesn't gum up the needle.  I haven't noticed any gumminess with the Taylor spray but I think the next time I need to buy some, I'll try the 505.  It looks like Amazon carries it and with Prime, I don't have to pay postage. Bonus!

I love technology, don't you? v.4

You won't believe how much time I've spent trying to figure out how to create blog posts with clear photos using my iPad with BlogPress and/or Blogger after uploading the edited photos to Flickr.  Here's the short version:  If I use BlogPress to create the post and add photos, when I try to edit the post after publishing, BlogPress crashes.  If I use Blogger to create the post and add photos, the cursor doesn't respond correctly.  If I create the post using BlogPress without the photos, then edit with Blogger to add the photos and try to save, it never comes back from saving.

Solution:  Use Chromebook.  Rediscover CTRL keys and try to remember it doesn't have a touch screen. All this because I wanted to use my iPad and not have to take out my laptop.  Lazy huh?  Crazy is more like it.  But seriously, think of how much I've learned.
